Associate Project Manager [NZST] – Blue Economy & Carbon Markets

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Associate Project Manager – Blue Economy & Carbon Markets to oversee the successful delivery of strategic consulting engagements within our NZST practice.

In this role, you will lead project implementation from planning through completion, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with technical specialists while serving as the primary driver of project execution.

What you’ll be up to in this role

  • Manage end-to-end project delivery across multiple consulting engagements in carbon markets, blue carbon, and nature-based solutions.
  • Develop project plans, delivery schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consortium partners, subcontractors, and client stakeholders throughout project implementation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, development partners, private sector clients, and international organisations.
  • Monitor project performance, identify delivery risks, and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Lead project governance meetings, executive briefings, and client reporting processes.
  • Support proposal development, business development initiatives, and client relationship management.
  • Lead and mentor consultants and contribute to strengthening project management capabilities within the NZST practice.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Sustainable Development, Economics, Public Policy, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of consulting, programme management, or advisory experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in carbon markets, blue carbon, biodiversity finance, or nature-based solutions.
  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects involving governments, development partners, and private sector organisations.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and project coordination capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working on donor-funded programmes, international consulting engagements, or infrastructure and energy projects is highly desirable.

  • Have higher education qualifications from reputable universities in the UK, Europe, US, or Indonesia.
