Senior Commercial Specialist – Energy and Shipping

The Opportunity

Equatorise is looking for a senior professional to support our initiatives directly at a client site, ensuring successful
collaboration and project execution.

We are seeking an experienced individual to be placed at our prestigious client of an Indonesian State Owned
Enterprise (SOE) in the Energy and Shipping industry. The ideal candidate will bring deep commercial expertise,
particularly within the oil and gas sector, and will serve as a key point of contact for managing and optimizing
commercial contracts, vendor relationships, and procurement processes. You will play a critical role in ensuring the
company’s projects and operations are commercially efficient, compliant, and strategically aligned with business
objectives.

This role requires you to be prudent, proactive, and clever in taking directions and initiatives with an opportunity to
grow as a Senior Commercial Specialist in an Energy and Shipping industry.

What you’ll be up to in this role

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders including, but not limited to, local government bodies, communities, and business partners.
  • Lead the drafting, negotiation, and management of commercial contracts with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with company policies and project goals.
  • Prepare and provide support with commercial proposals and scenario analyses.
  • Effectively manage and ensure the implementation and compliance of the established operational and commercial contracts.
  • Coordinate meetings related to interfaces and key operational agreements, both internally and externally, to initiate discussions and formalize settlements for both commercial and technical support.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, commodity prices, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact the company’s commercial operations.

  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant commercial experience in the oil and gas or international shipping and logistic industry, with a focus on contract management, procurement, and commercial strategy.
  • Strong understanding of the oil and gas sector, international shipping and logistic sector, including regulatory and compliance aspects.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of managing high-value contracts and reducing costs.
  • Impeccable and precise verbal and written communication skills in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.

Bonus points if you

  • Have higher education qualifications from reputable universities in the UK, Europe or the US.
  • Have experience working in a joint venture or with multiple stakeholders in the oil and gas or international shipping industry
