Associate Consultant / Consultant – International Engagement (Mandarin speaker)

The Opportunity

We are looking for a sharp, high-performing professional to join our International Engagement team. In this role, you will help strengthen Indonesia’s global footprint by supporting strategic collaborations with key partners across East Asia — especially Mainland China (PRC) — as well as broader multilateral and economic platforms.

You will work closely with senior leaders, international businesses, diplomatic missions, and global institutions to drive high-impact initiatives that shape Indonesia’s international economic presence. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about geopolitics, international business, cross-border cooperation, and Asia’s fast-changing strategic landscape

What you’ll be up to in this role

  • Support the design, coordination, and execution of international engagement initiatives , with a strong focus on stakeholders in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the broader East Asia region .
  • Conduct research and produce high-quality briefings on trade policy, investment opportunities, East Asia relations, and regional economic developments .
  • Prepare speeches, talking points, and strategic communications for client engagements, bilateral meetings, and international events.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder databases, event trackers, and follow-up pipelines for East Asia engagements.
  • Liaise with business councils, chambers, enterprises, think tanks, and government-linked organisations , as well as global institutions.
  • Support client missions, delegations, study visits, bilateral dialogues, and international forums.
  • Contribute to planning, financial tracking, and reporting for international projects and engagements.

  • Proficiency in Mandarin or Cantonese (written and/or spoken) — essential for liaising with East Asia stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Business Management, International Relations, Political Science, Communications, or a related field.
  • Min. 1 year of experience in diplomacy, business associations, government relations, or international organizations
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial planning, budget management, and basic economic analysis.
  • Strong understanding of government structures, policymaking processes, regulatory frameworks, international cooperation, government relations, diplomacy, business associations, and Asia-focused institutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with high-level stakeholders and media.

Bonus points if you

  • Have higher education qualifications from reputable universities in the UK, Europe or East Asia
  • Have contributed to international summits
  • Understanding of East Asia regional dynamics, China’s business ecosystem, and international policy processes.
